The Sydney Morning Herald recently reported about a paralysed man who, by using his brainwaves alone, manipulated a virtual character in the Second Life website to move around and talk to other characters. Second Life is a virtual world where you create an avatar (a character) and then socialise with other people, go shopping or dance the night away in a nightclub. Japanese researchers worked with the 41 year old man who used his imagination to make his avatar take a walk and chat to another virtual person in Second Life.
