Brothers and Sisters

Our sibling relationships are often the longest and most enduring relationship that we have in life.

Brothers and sisters of people with a disability report having both positive and negative experiences when growing up. Some adjust well, while others have a more difficult time.

As parents, you can have a major, positive impact on these sibling relationships.

School Leavers’ Expo – Chatswood

School Leavers … Discover the pathway that’s right for you at the Sydney North Post School Options Expo on Wednesday 6 June 2012.

The free expo features service providers from organisations across Sydney. There will be information on Transition to Work and Employment programs, and Community Participation programs, so that families and young people will be able to make informed decisions about the program and service provider that best suits their needs. Family Advocacy Conference 2012

Family Advocacy is an independent, disability advocacy organisation for families in which there is a child or an adult with a developmental disability.

Teenagers: Getting Ready for Study and Work

Getting Young People with Disabilities Ready for Study and Work is a great new tool for parents developed by a team from the National Disability Coordination Officer (NDCO) program, hosted by the University of Western Sydney.

Transition to School

If your child is starting school in 2013 or 2014 and you live on the north side of Sydney, you may be interested in a Transition to School information meeting for parents and carers of children with special learning needs.

This is a chance to hear from representatives of Independent Schools, the Catholic Education System and the NSW Department of Education and Training. Read more: Transition to School

  • Tips and tricks for using apps
  • Demonstration of apps for: following directions, vocabulary development, speech sound practice, expressive language skills, problem solving, fine motor skills, drawing and handwiring practice, spelling, reading and fun.
