Rally to Make it Real: NDIS 2012

Every Australian CountsIt’s time to make sure that Every Australian Counts.

Australian Story – Daniel Clarke

Australian Story on 12 March featured 15 year old Daniel Clarke of Terrey Hills who is on a mission to save the orangutans.

Daniel who has cerebral palsy was inspired by the late Steve Irwin. Together with his 13 year old brother, William and parents Rodney and Penny, Daniel has spent the last 5 years actively campaigning to save the orangutans of Borneo and Sumatra. Read more: Australian Story – Daniel Clarke

National Disability Insurance Scheme – Update

Every Australian CountsAustralia’s state and federal governments are getting the message about the need for a National Disability Insurance Scheme.

They have even agreed to deliver the foundational work for the National Disability Insurance Scheme by mid 2013 – a year earlier than the Productivity Commission recommended.

The next step is to spread the word in the community, to help everyone understand why the NDIS is so important.

27 November – 3 December is ‘Spread the Word Week’ - a national week of action to make sure NDIS reaches its campaign goal of 100,000 supporters by the end of the year. Read more: National Disability Insurance Scheme – Update

Tears in the Jungle

Sydney brothers, Daniel and William Clarke are on a quest to save the orangutan from extinction.

Together, they’ve written a children’s book, Tears In The Jungle, which follows their trek into the jungles of Borneo to see the orangutan in the wild.

The fact that Daniel has cerebral palsy did not slow them down as they traveled upriver to Camp Leakey, the research base of the Orangutan Foundation International. Read more: Tears in the Jungle

Update on the National Disability Insurance Scheme Campaign

Every Australian CountsThank you to everyone who has supported the campaign for a National Disability Insurance Scheme over the last few years.

As you know the Productivity Commission released their final report to the federal government on Sunday 31 July 2011.

The Prime Minister responded last week saying that the government shares the vision of an NDIS and will begin laying the foundations for its introduction. Read more: Update on the National Disability Insurance Scheme Campaign
