The Spastic Centre’s day service, Boccia CAS, recently completed a joint project with Northern Beaches TAFE, to redevelop the Boccia New South Wales website.
The vision of the website was to create a ‘one stop shop’ for all Boccia enquiries, and to obtain a level of functionality to make it the most up to date Boccia resource in Australia.
Whether an elite athlete or new recreational player lives in Sydney or a rural area, they can have the same access to event information, coaching tips, newsletters, or links to other boccia related websites.
Most boccia tournaments are currently Sydney based, but rural athletes are encouraged to attend big ticket competitions, for which there is often financial assistance.
Basically, the new website aims to encourage more participation, so anybody with CP can get involved with the sport, and feel part of the community of boccia – the sport for people with cerebral palsy which can take you to the Paralympics.
