GetUp and National Disability Insurance Scheme

NDIS logoThe on-line advocacy group GetUp is seeking suggestions about its next cause.  Currently outperforming all other ideas is the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) campaign.

An NDIS would provide ‘cover’ for anyone who has or aquires a disability in Australia – providing much-needed certainty around equipment, support, care and therapy. Read more: GetUp and National Disability Insurance Scheme

Empowerment Days

NSW Network of Women with a Disability is holding two free ‘empowerment days’ in October to help women with a disability to become more confident, assertive and feel safe at home and as they travel about the community. Read more: Empowerment Days

Carers Week

17-23 October 2010.

Carers Week is a time to celebrate the 2.6million unpaid family carers who provide a vital contribution to Australian society.

Across Australia carers are providing unpaid care and support for a family member or friend with a disability, mental illness or disorder, chronic condition, terminal illness or who is frail. The week offers an opportunity to celebrate family carers in our community, to acknowledge their contribution and to generate discussion about carer issues.

New National Parking Scheme
