2009 Starts with a Bang

Happy New Year Everyone!

I hope your New Year has started with a BANG! Ours did!

… and with every bang Daniel jumped out of his seat!

We were invited to go to our friend’s house for New Years Eve celebrations and as their house is positioned on the Sydney skyline, we were able to watch the New Years Eve fireworks on Sydney Harbour live for the first time in our lives.

Never Say Never (Part 1)

There have been many times where Penny and I have looked at an activity in advance and come to the conclusion that Daniel would not be able to do it. We don’t do that anymore.

As time passes, we are constantly surprised at both Daniel’s ingenuity for working out how he can participate in games, as well as the ingenuity of his classmates …

Perception is Reality

What do you mean, Perception is Reality? The explanation is quite simple. You and I might see exactly the same thing; however, we both interpret the situation differently. How often have you and a friend watched the same movie only to find that you each thought the movie was about something completely different? You have your individual perceptions on the same topic and yet they are both different.

That is, your perception – it is neither right nor wrong (of course to you it is right, but to someone else it can be wrong), therefore, your perception is your reality.

Tormented from Trying

It’s funny how the sole purpose of a memory is to serve as a reminder to trust your instincts in the future … When Daniel was about 3 we were advised that his hips would develop incorrectly if we didn’t put him in a plaster cast from his hips to his ankles for 6 weeks.

Imagine putting both of your child’s legs into a position similar to that of a wishbone of a chicken, and then cementing them into a plaster cast for 6 weeks. It sounds almost barbaric, and even still we went ahead with it.
