You want to leave me with Daniel? … alone?

Penny came home a couple of weeks ago to advise me that our youngest (William) was going on a school excursion to Canberra and that she was going to accompany his class as one of the volunteer parents.

Apart from the fact I liken, volunteering as a class parent on one of those trips to the slow and consistent pain inflicted when whipping yourself with a cat-o-nine tails, she was determined to spend quality time with William.

There have been many times where Penny and I have looked at an activity in advance and come to the conclusion that Daniel would not be able to do it. We don’t do that anymore.

As time passes, we are constantly surprised at both Daniel’s ingenuity for working out how he can participate in games, as well as the ingenuity of his classmates …

Holidays

Holidays … do you get them? If you do, where do you go? Does it stress you out to see your child frustrated because, when you get to your destination, you find that the facility is not disability friendly? Stress levels go up, everyone becomes tense and frustrated, and you start asking yourself, Why did we do this?

I don’t know if this happens to anyone else, but this is what happened to us on our first holiday as a family. Daniel and William were about six and four and we had a great idea to get away to a hotel somewhere that had some nice facilities and that we could all enjoy, so we took off to Port Stephens for 10 days …
