I laugh at how competitive we are!
Not only do we like to compete in sports and achievements as a nation but even with life experiences we love to compete.
Have you ever heard a bunch of mums over a coffee talking about who had the worst birth?
bad birthmedal goes too …

Daniel was around 8 months when the doctors asked if we were going to have a second child. For Penny and I this question posed a greater risk than just having a second child with a disability, it meant risking Penny’s life a third time.
Our first attempt at a family (five years prior) resulted in Penny contracting a rare condition called Trophoblastic Disease. This is a form of cancer that affects 1 in every 10,000 first time pregnancies and has a nasty side effect in that it makes the women’s body behave as if it is pregnant and, instead of growing a baby, it grows a tumour.
I Love You Dad
It was 2 am. I was standing outside the waiting room hoping for some news on my wife and child when the doctors and theatre nurses hurried out of the operating theatre, pushing the mobile humidicrib in front of them.
On their way to the intensive care unit the only thing the doctor said to me was, If you want to see your son, you’ll have to run with us …
Someone Tell Me the Future!
So why don’t these doctors know what is going on? Surely with all the medical knowledge that is around they can at least tell me what my son will, or won’t, be able to do in the future …
My son was now a few months old after surviving a birth experience that no child or parent should ever have to live through.
I felt extremely frustrated.
