Anything but normal …

There is a word that I really don’t like. It makes my stomach turn and tempts me to rant uncontrollably. That word is ‘normal’. I really do not like it.

I’m the most politically incorrect person you will ever meet but, regardless of its context, I can’t stand that word at all … ever, at anytime.

Fashion or folly

The most mundane activities can become a wicked round of twister or a scene from Tomb Raider. How? Simple. Just fall over in a confined space. Not unlike Lara Croft, the experience will leave you feeling invincible and pondering the deeper meaning of life.

I have a shoe obsession. More particularly, I have a high heeled boot addiction. This addiction is in direct opposition to my ability to stand well in anything but flat shoes. Being a woman, which ‘need’ do you think most often takes precedence?

The Big Question: A Kid’s Perspective

I was reading a blog post, ‘Be Prepared’, from the HeyDad blog … Rodney raises a very common concern – explaining disability to your child. For the benefit of any parents reading this post, I thought that I would provide one ‘kid’s’ perspective on when I realised I was ‘different’, what I asked my parents, how they handled it and how I felt about their reaction.

School Reunions

My ten year school reunion is coming up and with it the memories.

What was school like for me? Until I hit high school I was a novelty. People wanted to keep me company, they wanted to push my chair or be the one chosen by the teacher to help me out.

But high school (with the exception of my ‘second’ year 12 – more on that later), with its mixture of hormones and peer pressure, was mostly painful and lonely.
