Didn’t we have a wonderful day? An invitation to help out at a Christmas Party hosted by The Governor General Ms Quentin Bryce and her husband! As volunteer roles go – it doesn’t get much nicer than that. Don’t know about you guys but this was my first visit to Admiralty House – very impressive don’t you think? The house, its history, the warm welcome from the GG, not to mention the views!!
Waiting out front for the families to arrive, it was so good to see all the beaming little faces as we helped them out of the car and carried their bags up the drive. Some families had travelled from as far away as Canberra for this special event.
What a party! Hadn’t they just thought of everything? From Fairy Bread to Funny Clowns, Sausage sizzle to Santa, even a Jumping Castle, not to mention all the yummy food. Wasn’t Ms Bryce amazing as she visited each table and chatted to every child as they sat down to lunch?
Were you one of the volunteers chosen to help Santa and his Elf hand out gifts? Lovely to see that even Mrs Clause had put aside her Christmas preparations and also travelled from the North Pole for this special day
Thank you for all the help you gave to make sure that the children enjoyed their party. You all worked so hard, even the heat of the day could not slow you down as you handed out food, presents, and assisted families whenever it was needed.
From all staff, parents and children at The Spastic Centre, big thanks to the wonderful volunteers from Commonwealth Bank who, as always, did such a marvellous job. Perhaps we can do it all again next year ?
Here are a few pics from CBA Governor General Christmas Party 2009. How good do you look in your volunteer caps and tops? Please leave a comment on how you felt on the day.
