Ryan’s National Volunteer Week Story

I knew volunteer week was coming up because I’d seen the posters around The Stuart Centre, but it came upon me pretty quickly. I was invited to go to Parliament House in Sydney to receive an award on behalf of all the volunteers at The Spastic Centre. I was a bit nervous because I’d never met a minster for anything before, so I was wondering ‘how do I act’ and ‘what do I say?’ I was hoping they didn’t expect me to say anything because I didn’t know what to say for the first time ever! When the day arrived, I was embarrassed to find my mum shining up my wheel chair – was the minister going to admire my shiny wheelchair? Mum had told my sister Carlee about the award ceremony and she left work in the CBD to come and cheer me on.

AmazING, CarING and OutstandING volunteers paint at Allambie

Once again almost 20 volunteers from ING’s Corporate and Finance business took up the challenge and on Thursday 30 April the residents and staff of Venee Burges House received a bright newly painted hallway.

It was so nice to see some of you come back for a return visit! The paint strewn T-shirts on arrival were a bit of a giveaway!
